Empowering Resilience: 2025 Impact Report

Why This Work Matters

It is a privilege to serve as Chair of the AIMCo Foundation for Financial Education. I have been connected to the Foundation’s work for several years, first through fundraising and board service, and now in this role at a time when its mission has never felt more important.

At its core, the Foundation is about helping people in Alberta build confidence, make informed decisions and create greater stability in their lives. Financial literacy is not abstract. It affects how people plan for the future, respond to uncertainty, support their families and participate fully in their communities. When Albertans have access to practical financial education, the benefits extend well beyond the individual.

This work also reflects something important about AIMCo. As an organization, we are focused on long-term outcomes, stewardship and serving Albertans. The Foundation gives AIMCo colleagues and partners a meaningful way to extend that commitment into the community by supporting organizations that are building financial resilience across the province.

In 2025, that commitment translated into tangible support across Alberta. The Foundation distributed $350,000 in community grants to 21 financial literacy and education initiatives, funded six scholarship portfolios through Alberta universities and technical colleges that helped enable 36 undergraduate and graduate scholarships. We also welcomed five new community partners,  extending support into rural and remote regions and to underserved populations.

Those results are possible because AIMCo colleagues continue to show up for this work. In 2025, more than 60 volunteers from across AIMCo contributed their time and talent to the Foundation’s governance, strategy and operations. They raised funds, engaged corporate partners, reviewed grant applications, coordinated scholarships, supported accounting and served on the
Board and committees. Their volunteerism is one of the clearest expressions of AIMCo’s commitment to Alberta.

I am especially proud that the Foundation is strengthening its focus on long-term support. Community organizations do their best work when they can plan with confidence, retain capacity and stay focused on the people they serve. By moving from one-time grants toward multi-year commitments, the Foundation is helping provide that stability and making a more durable contribution to financial empowerment in Alberta.

That long-term view is possible because of the generosity of AIMCo colleagues, corporate partners and volunteers who continue to invest in this work year after year.

Thank you to the volunteers, donors, corporate partners and community organizations who bring this mission to life. I look forward to working with you as we continue to grow the Foundation’s reach and help more Albertans build the confidence, resilience and opportunity that financial education can make possible.
