2025 Community Grants Announced
The AIMCo Foundation will distribute $350,000 to fund 21 Alberta-based financial literacy and education initiatives.
There are 6 new groups on our latest list of grant recipients, and 15 previously funded organizations. These grantees work with everyone from new immigrants to seniors and youth, helping to empower prosperity through financial education. The funding they receive from the Foundation will help them do incredible work across our province.

Grant Recipients and Funded Programs 2025
Action for Healthy Communities
Building Financial Empowerment and Resilience in Alberta
Action for Healthy Communities will deliver accessible financial literacy workshops for Albertans, focusing on practical skills and confidence to manage finances. Core components include practical education on banking, budgeting, saving, debt management and understanding the Canadian tax system.
Africa Centre
Financial Empowerment Initiative
Through free community tax clinics and follow-up financial literacy workshops, the Africa Centre is meeting Alberta’s African-descent community where they are. The Financial Empowerment Initiative is supporting newcomers in Edmonton and Calgary as they learn to navigate unfamiliar Canadian financial systems, and offers relevant programs such as a “Money & Marriage” course.
Alberta Network of Immigrant Women
Empower and Thrive: Financial Skills for Immigrant Seniors Initiative
Through the Empower and Thrive initiative, Alberta Network of Immigrant Women empowers immigrant seniors with financial knowledge, bridging barriers to economic security and fraud prevention. Funding will support the delivery of these workshops.
ASSIST Community Services Centre
Digital Literacy Integration for Financial Success Journey
ASSIST works with newcomers to Canada and has recognized a need for financial literacy education to support English language learners and those unfamiliar with the digital financial landscape. This program will enhance the financial understanding of participants and empower them to make informed financial decisions aligned with their goals.
Bissell Centre
Financial Empowerment Project
The Bissell Centre takes an inclusive, people-centred approach to poverty reduction in Edmonton. Among its unique delivery tactics, the Financial Empowerment Project aims to embed financial literacy within other supportive programs to increase financial well-being and boost outcomes across the board.
Canadian Foundation for Economic Education
Talk With Our Kids About Money Initiative
Through the Talk With Our Kids About Money program, the Canadian Foundation for Economic Education encourages conversations about money between children, parents and teachers, with resources tailored for Alberta. Funding will be used to support the continued delivery of this program.
Carya Society of Calgary
Improving the Living Conditions of Vulnerable Senior Calgarians through Financial Education
The Carya Society of Calgary works with vulnerable seniors and is empowering them to better navigate the financial and benefits systems they regularly encounter. Funding will support the delivery of these workshops.
Chrysalis: An Alberta Society for Citizens with Disabilities
Money Management Program for Adults with Developmental Disabilities
Chrysalis will teach practical money management skills to adults with developmental disabilities in Edmonton and Alberta-wide, fostering independence. In the Money Management Program, individuals will learn the basics of handling money, from spending and saving to making smart choices.
Hinton Adult Learning Society
Community Financial Literacy Project
Following the devastating wildfires in the Jasper area, which increased instability in an already cyclical economy, the Hinton Adult Learning Society recognized the need to deliver a series of financial literacy seminars. Funding will support program delivery to low-income people on topics of personal financial management and building resilience in a volatile economy.
Inclusion Foothills
Family Support Program
Through the Family Support program, Inclusion Foothills helps people with disabilities and their families in High River. Funding will enable programming to connect them to financial resources and guidance, empowering them to advocate for necessary supports.
Junior Achievement Northern Alberta and NWT
Financial Literacy Programming for Northern Alberta Youth
Junior Achievement of Northern Alberta and NWT provides financial literacy programs that equip youth with essential life skills — from budgeting to saving to understanding credit and making informed decisions. Funding will support the expansion of their existing financial literacy programming across northern Alberta.
Junior Achievement of Southern Alberta
Financial Literacy Classroom Programs
With tailor-made programming for students from grades 4 to 12, Junior Achievement of Southern Alberta will direct funding toward the expansion of their classroom financial literacy programs, including More than Money, Dollars with Sense, Economics for Success, Investment Strategies and Personal Finance.
Momentum
Aspire Calgary Program
As Calgary’s Financial Empowerment Collaborative, Momentum is directing funds to continue building out the capacity of its collective of community partners. Through education, coaching and credentialing, these organizations can integrate financial literacy best practices throughout their programs.
Project Adult Literacy Society
The Money Basics Initiative
Project Adult Literacy Society will use funding to support Money Basics, a program that supports clients with very low levels of financial literacy and numeracy skills to develop skills to help them achieve their financial goals.
Rainbow Literacy Society
Senior Financial Literacy Empowerment Program
In partnership with local nonprofit organizations in the Vulcan area, the Rainbow Literacy Society will work with seniors, and support the delivery of programming focused on increasing financial literacy and awareness of financial manipulation. It will also provide guidance on tax and pension benefit systems.
The Immigrant Education Society (TIES)
Financial Success for Canadians and Newcomers
TIES will provide financial literacy education and counselling for newcomers and youth, equipping them to navigate Canada’s financial systems. This program will enhance financial knowledge, change economic behaviours, aid in financial planning and budgeting and build the skills necessary for financial management.
United Way of the Alberta Capital Region
Empower U – Building Confident Futures Program
A collaborative effort involving 15 partners, Empower U combines financial literacy education and coaching to increase financial knowledge, tools and resources for people who are financially vulnerable.
Wellspring Alberta
Money Matters Program
A cancer diagnosis has profound impacts on the financial well-being of patients and their families. Funding through the Money Matters program helps people navigate the unexpected financial complexities of a diagnosis, including income replacement programs, as well as taxation, financial and estate planning.
Whitecourt Community Adult Learning Program at NorQuest College
My Money, My Life: Budgeting, Banking & Beating Scams
Through the My Money, My Life: Budgeting, Banking & Beating Scams initiative, Whitecourt Community Adult Learning Program at NorQuest College will deliver financial literacy workshops for adults with disabilities. These workshops will focus on budgeting, digital banking and fraud prevention.
YMCA Edmonton
YMCA Youth Transitions Program: From At-Risk to Future-Ready
As part of the Youth Transitions Program: From At-Risk to Future-Ready program, the YMCA provides young people with financial literacy education and personalized support to build confidence and prepare for the future. Funding will support the financial literacy education components of the Youth Transitions Program.
YWCA Edmonton
YOUth Retreats and Financial Literacy Weekend Workshops
With a goal to empower women toward lifelong financial literacy, YWCA Edmonton is directing funding to expand its portfolio of youth engagement initiatives. The programs provide age-appropriate education and focus on the fundamentals of money management including saving, budgeting and investing.
